Summary
LocaGo is a developer and QA tool that sets a simulated location on your device. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no crash-reporting service. Everything you create in the app stays on your device. The only data that leaves your device is what's needed to show maps and to look up places, described below.
Data stored only on your device
| Data | Why | How to delete |
|---|---|---|
| Favorite locations (name, coordinates, address, category) | Re-use test locations | Favorites screen, or Settings → Clear favorites |
| Saved routes (names and points) | Replay routes | Route screen → Saved routes, or Settings → Clear saved routes |
| Imported GPX files | Play recorded tracks | GPX screen → Delete |
| Simulation history (start/end time, simulated positions and path, distance, speed) | History and Replay | History → Delete / Clear all, or Settings → Clear history. Can be turned off in Settings → Save simulation history |
| Settings | Remember your preferences | Uninstall the app |
This data is not sent to us or anyone else, and it is excluded from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Settings → Export data creates a file containing favorites and saved routes only when you ask for it, saved where you choose; history is never exported.
Data sent to third-party services
The app talks to two third-party services over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We don't operate them and don't receive any of this data.
- Map tiles: OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org). To draw the map, your device downloads map images for the area on screen. Like any website, the server sees your IP address and which map area is requested.
- Place search and addresses: OpenStreetMap Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org), run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. When you search for a place, the search text is sent. When you pick a point on the map, its coordinates are sent to look up the address. The server also sees your IP address and the app's name and version. You can turn this off in Settings → Online place search & addresses; searching by coordinates then works entirely offline. OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
Your device's location
The app asks for location permission before it can be used. It uses your location only to centre the map on your position when you tap “My location” and for the mock location test in Diagnostics. Your real location is used on the device only and is never sent anywhere by the app. The app does not request background location access.
Permissions
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Location (precise/approximate) | “My location” on the map; the mock location test in Diagnostics |
| Mock location (selected by you in Developer options) | Provide simulated locations through Android's test-provider mechanism |
| Notifications | Show the running simulation with Pause and Stop controls |
| Foreground service (special use) | Keep a simulation you started running while the app is in the background |
| Internet / network state | Map tiles and place search |
| Wake lock | Keep the simulation updating while the screen is off, only while a simulation runs |
Simulated locations are always marked
Locations provided by this app are always flagged by Android as mock locations. The app does not hide this flag, and other apps can detect it. The app must not be used to deceive other services or people.
Children
The app is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We'll update this policy when the app's data handling changes and show the new effective date above.
